The ESG Innovation Collective, the world’s first city-led ESG task force has initiated
a cross-sector framework driving the environmental and social sustainability agenda forward
enabling its engaged collaborators to become more resilient and future-proof.

The Collective has engaged, amongst others, with leaders from policy, academia, urban data, the impact & finance industry, rating agencies, real estate developers and operators, cultural organizations and community leaders gaging needs, drivers and common grounds in order to facilitate action-oriented social investments that can be measurable for investors adding value to their ESG ratings.

In 2023 the Collective is keen to widen their engagement with more private sector partners, rating agencies and cities collaborating on a methodology delivering measurable SROI & ROI data.  The London School of Economics called this initiative “truly innovative” and “a vital new financing mechanism focussing on the creation of public value”.

Impact and rating – two elements that should be clearly linked.

However, the reality is that impact is a) not easy to measure, and b) unfortunately, often not considered relevant for corporate ratings. The ESG Innovation Collective is working on new methodologies to measure social impact, delivering commercial value for funders.
